How to Clean Your Kitchen Sink The Right Way – Even If You Don’t Know How

It would seem that all that running water would make them clean but sinks are a notorious breeding ground for bacteria. It's likely the dirtiest spot in your entire house. Here are some tips to clean it.

Dirty dishes, food bits that have been thrown away from cutting boards, and grimy mildew. These are all things that can make your sink one of the most polluted areas in your home. To keep your home clean, you don’t need to bleach your sink every day. You can prevent germs from spreading by using everyday dish soap, natural cleaners such as baking soda or vinegar, and a scrub brush.

Step 1: Rinse and scrub.

Use a soap-dispensing brush to scrub your sink. The best way to clean sinks with delicate surfaces such as copper or enameled-cast iron is to use mild dish soap and water. Baking soda or water pastes can be used on sinks made of stainless steel. However, you should avoid using acidic cleaners such as vinegar on concrete, porcelain, and enameled cast iron.

  • Stainless Steel: Apply a baking soda-water paste followed by a vinegar rinse.

  • Use warm water and mild dish soap to clean porcelain, copper, and granite. No scouring pads!

  • Cast iron enameled: This is the most non-abrasive method. Avoid stains and scuff marks.

Step 2: Clean all nooks, crevices, and crevices.

You should also clean any hard-to-reach places that may harbor germy grime. Water and white vinegar can be used to clean faucets, spray nozzles, and sin-strainers. Use a brush to remove any grime from the faucet base.

Step 3: Disinfect it

Fill a spray bottle with 1:3 vinegar and water to make stainless steel sinks sparkle. Acetic acid is a natural disinfectant that effectively kills common germs. White vinegar contains acetic. Use hot water mixed with antibacterial soap to clean surfaces that are not vinegar-safe.

Step 4: Make sure to clean your tools as well.

Your kitchen sink is the dirtiest thing you can find. It's your dish sponge! It should be thrown out if it begins to smell. You can also scrub the sponge holder, sink mat, and dish brush with a damp cloth.

Step 5: Keep it tidy.

Keep your kitchen clean by regularly replenishing sponges and dishes brushes, and keeping them in a dishwasher-safe container. For sanitary drying, choose a ventilated design and wash it every time you replace your sponge.

Good Tip to Clean Your Garbage Disposal

Clean garbage disposal by removing the drain from the sink and then filling the sink with hot soapy water. Run the disposal until it stops. Next, add 1/2 cup of salt and 1 cup of ice to the sink. Turn the disposal on, and then add 1/2 cup baking soda. Allow the mixture to sit for at least an hour before adding 1/2 cup vinegar. Turn on the cold water faucet and run the disposal one more time. Finish the job by removing a lemon wedge chopped while it is still on.

You can clean the sink daily with soap and water. Repeat this process whenever you need to disinfect.
